The holidays have been busy but great. We’ve finally moved into the house and I’ve managed to squeeze in a couple of rides (one of them on my road bike – and it turned out that there was a good layer of ice on the road! Scary!). Took the single speed for a ride yesterday, and the surrounding hills turns out to have some really good trails and I’m looking forward to explore them more in the near future (after the forthcoming snow has melted again).
It’s so nice to be able to ride almost directly from our front door to the trails. This is what I’ve been longing for. Today I started to ride to the nearest train-station (we’re commuting to Oslo by train), and that turned out to be a nice short ride. Will continue to do that when weather permits.
During the holidays my new Fit Bike turned up from Italy. A really nice piece of equipment that allow the customers to either fine-tune their current riding position or “test” the new riding position on a new frame. It’ll find a nice place for it in the coffee (and beer?)/office-/drawing-corner in the new workshop. Speaking of the workshop: hopefully the work will start in early February and I hope it’s ready by mid march.
I’m completely tooled up now for almost every repair, alignment check, frame modification and frame building operation one can imagine. There will be a milling machine in there, the new lathe, a really nice drill press, grinders, alignment table, jigs and fixtures, in addition to cutting tools for threads and facing operations. I’m getting all riled up just by talking about this. A really nice work table from my dad/granddad’s metal workshop will be my primary workspace, and I’ll make room for an area for coffee-drinking (or beer?) for those of you that pops by for a visit.
The only two things I’ll be on the lookout for is a compressor and a blasting cabinet. Hopefully I’ll stumble over something locally.
