Johnsen Frameworks is the lovechild of me, framebuilder Truls Erik Johnsen. Since I started tinkering with bicycles back in the late eighties I’ve had a strong urge to create frames that are as beautiful as those that I have drooled on in my local bike store. High quality steel frames made-to-measure for the discerning cyclist. Frames made with strong ties to European and American framebuilding traditions.
In the mid-nineties I got the chance to visit several American builders during a four month trip around the US. I learnt a lot about framebuilding, and even more about beer, coffee and dodgy neighbourhoods. Since that I’ve studied, worked as a music journalist, barista, ethnologist (which is my formal profession), editor for the largest mountain bike web-site in Norway (www.terrengsykkel.no), research scientist, Christmas-tree seller and bike mechanic. Since 2005 I’ve built frames in shops in Oslo and Hølen and mid 2017 I took the step to go full time framebuilding.
Late 2017 I established a new workshop space in a the old mill in Hølen, just few minutes from home. After that the framebuilding dream really got going, and I’m currently offering lugged and lugless mountainbike and road frames. Feel free to contact me for more information.
